Office Space: Outside

I saw a funny commercial this week. I think it so was funny because it is so timely. People are feeling a pull outside. Even here in Boston, where we were first into quarantine and will be the last out, there are suddenly people outside.
Wherever you are you are likely noticing the fruits of Spring, and vaccination (thank you, team Vax). The U.S. is waking up and wanting to connect more. Change is in the air. This makes this an incredible opportunity for creating better work environments and establishing better patterns of communication.
Don't get me wrong, many people may want to try and reestablish the patterns that existed before we all started working from home. To get back to "normal." But, I think we can agree that those patterns were not good for the humans at your organizations. We can do better and now is a great time to think of how.
The invitation today is to ask yourself, and perhaps even your team, to make a strengths-based assessment of where you are. To have candid conversations about what your dream environment would be and to make concrete plans for how to achieve it. I know we like to imagine that we can only do certain things in certain ways. That simply isn't true. I also know that we think of things being different someday but we are alive and experiencing today. I hope the last year and a half has at least taught us to acknowledge the impermanence of life as we know it.
