You: Connection

I had an in-person client, in my office, today. I mean the physical space I rent in Boston.

This was novel enough given the last 15 months but more importantly, it was a dynamic and wonderful session. So much so that it made me think about why that was. I am an introvert, exhausted from a quick trip to New York to visit my mom, and still unpacking from my move. So why was a 2-hr session with a wonderful B-Corp team so re-vitalizing?

Short answer, my body got to feel connection to other human bodies.

The body communicates on several levels of which your voice is just one. Even if you have been in contact with other humans while in isolation, our bodies don't just want connection but also a diversity of connections.

Communicating about complex problems, and finding solutions is a very different energy than chatting with my spouse or kid. My body missed human connection outside of my family. So today's session was like a shot of espresso or a brisk run -- elating.

How is your body?

As we return to higher contact situations, consider how your body allows you to enter a room. Listen to what it is telling you about your needs. And, importantly, allow it to connect with others. Note, I did not say anything about physical contact. I am referring exclusively to non-verbal physical communication. Breathing and being with others. So get out there. Have some conversations, mix it up. And, connect.
